The Monkey's Raincoat by Robert Crais

Today I finished reading The Monkey's Raincoat by Robert Crais

I read this book as a part of my Learn to Write by Reading Project.

It's a good read but I missed the connection from the title to the book. What raincoat? What monkey?

According to one account by Crais himself, he took a Basho (former Samurai turned poet) haiku and, in his own mind, made Ellen the monkey and Elvis the raincoat, protecting her from a fall moonsoon. Regardless, it's a mysterious and concrete image that gets one's attention.
